Conrad

Conrad (and his dad, Scott)!

Q: Tell us a little about Conrad!

Scott: I fostered Conrad from Animal Friends, and when they said, “Bring him back”, I looked in his eyes and I said “Nope! I can’t!” He’s too good of a dog.

Q: Do we know what kind of dog Conrad is?

Scott: He’s a boxer pittie mix

Q: Can you tell us a little about his condition?

Scott: He has degenerative myelopathy. It’s the dog version of Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was diagnosed 13 months ago. They gave him 6 to 9 months to live. He and I would jog together every day to keep his muscles strong. He’s losing movement from the back legs forward. There are 5 stages and he’s in stage 4.

Q: Does he have any favorite places and best friends?

Scott: He loves going to the dog park, it’s his favorite place! Along with Home Depot. He likes to play with Manny and Ace. Any large dog, he likes to play with them. I would foster, and he’s always played with them.

Q: What is Conrad’s favorite thing?

Scott: This (the park) is his favorite thing. He knows “park”. He loves to go for rides also. He likes treats!

Q: Is there anything else you’d like us to know about Conrad?

Scott: His nickname is Beauford. All my friends call him that. He is the friendliest and sweetest dog. He loves to be petted. Even in his wheelchair, he’ll still playful. He’s content and happy.

Smoky

Smoky (and his mom, Maria)!

How old is Smoky and what month is his Birthday? Smoky is 3 years old, and his birthday is the day after Christmas, December 26th

What breed of Dog is Smoky? We were told that he is a Lab/Hound dog mix, but we haven’t done any DNA testing to verify that.

What Nick Names do you have for Smoky? There are many: Smokestack, Smoky Poky, Smoky Monster, Smoky the Bandit, Smoky Ninja, the list goes on LOL

What is Smokys’ best trick? Stealing things!

Tell us a little bit about Smoky and how he came to live with you? The day before the Covid shut-down, our family (myself, my husband, my daughter Rachel and my son Mark) went to Animal Friends to supposedly look for an adult dog. This was because we knew that my daughter and I would be doing most of the training, and we didn’t feel that we could train a puppy. We were interested in an older dog there named Jean Grey. However, my husband and my son noticed 2 puppies together in the “Puppy Room,” and they decided we had to get one of the puppies. Radar was already adopted, so we adopted Major Burns. Of course, we had to change his name. We went through an endless series of possible names before we settled on Smoky. It suits him!

What is Smoky favorite thing to do? Come to the Dog Park and play with his friends! (And steal things that don’t belong to him!)

Is there anything else you would like to share about Smoky? Thank goodness he is lovable, or I don’t know if my daughter and I would be able to tolerate him!

Rapid Fire Questions:
Front seat or back seat
– The entire car is his!
Sleep on the Floor or in your Bed – On any couch that he wishes!
Surf or Turf – He actually really likes any kind of bread that he can steal LOL
Ball or Squeaky Toy – He will only steal a ball if he can get another dog to chase him. His only goal with a squeaky toy is to destroy it so that he can get the squeaker out.
Water or Dry Land –  Smoky is not a fan of water at all. He prefers to stay dry, unless he is at the park rolling in the mud with other dogs. He is that special!
